The Desktop

The basic desktop is a motherboard with everything else plugged into it and all of it put into a case.

1- The motherboard is a tablet size circuit board. It contains all the electronic parts to make your desktop come alive to the BIOS screen (the screen you see that shows the name of your BIOS). The motherboard also has a place on it where you can add your memory, you just plug the memory into it. It has a place also for your CPU to plug into if you ever need to replace it. Some motherboards have most plug-ins you need to plug things to it, like the monitor, CD player, printer, and all the other stuff you want to add to it. It also has a place to add cards to it that have circuit boards with plug-ins that are more powerful then what is on the motherboard. For example you can add a card to plug your monitor into, that allows you to work with programs using 3d images.

2- The monitor plugs into a plug-in on the motherboard. and it also plugs into the wall outlet.

3- The printer also has a cord that plugs into the motherboard and a cord to plug into a wall outlet.

4- The power cord that plugs into the wall outlet to your computer goes to the power supply that plugs into the motherboard to give it power and has plug-ins to plug into anything added to your computer that needs power, like the CD ROM.

5- The CD ROM is a player for data or music CD 's. If it is an external player it will plug into the wall outlet and a cord will plug into a plug on your motherboard. If it is internal then it will plug into a cord from the power supply, and a cord to the motherboard and a music cord plugs from the CD to another plug on the motherboard.

The Desktop is a simply toy like appliance that appears confusing to play with, but very easy to take apart and add other appliances to because everything plugs into the motherboard, and the motherboard and other parts are hooked into the case with screws.
